I got my UK EVA8000 home, and immediately tried to upgrade the firmware to the latest US version. I bricked it.

The key problem I think is that the EVA8000 with UK firmware is using PAL rather than NTSC. So it came up on my network fine via DHCP, but the video output did not work. I tried both composite and component going into an HDTV - didn't have an HDMI cable - or it probably would not have been a problem.

I tried to run the update from the web interface, and it took forever (>10 min), so I figured it was done - and I could not see it due to my NTSC vs. PAL issue. So I powered it off by pressing the power button for 5 seconds. That did it. It would not power back on for anything.

When working with the EVA8000, and using google to find things - you really want things that are from the netgear KB site. I applaud the concept. Here is the latest firmware as of this writing:
